The challenge
Working in live wards and operating theatres made logistics complex during the project.
Storage was scarce, coordination spanned seven floors, and the schedule kept shifting to suit hospital operations.

Our approach
Our team began by conducting a detailed, independent survey of the existing doors.
This allowed us to clearly identify those requiring repair or replacement. From this, we prepared precise schedules specifying the types of doors, fire ratings, finishes, and necessary ironmongery.
We installed 73 new fire doorsets and repaired 270 existing doors, coordinating closely with the hospital’s existing contractors to maintain all essential fire alarm and security systems throughout the process. All our works strictly adhered to BMTRADA fire door standards.
The outcome
The project was successfully completed on schedule within the 12-week timeframe and met the agreed budget.
Our approach effectively navigated the operational challenges posed by the hospital environment, ensuring minimal disruption. As a result, Great Ormond Street Hospital maintained full compliance with fire safety regulations, guaranteeing patient safety.
