Southampton University spans a large area with 49 individual blocks both on and off campus, making the inspection logistics complex.
Ensuring minimal disruption to students during the academic year was a critical priority for the university.
Our approach
We conducted detailed BMTRADA-certified fire door inspections covering 15,000 doors throughout the university’s residential and communal areas.
Following our thorough inspections, we prepared accurate, detailed door schedules outlining the remedial actions and replacements required.
These schedules were tailored specifically for tender purposes. Throughout the project, we closely coordinated with university staff to create a schedule that minimized interference with student activities and daily university operations.
The outcome
The fire door inspections were completed successfully within the allocated 12-month timeframe.
Our detailed inspection reports and door schedules provided clear guidance, enabling the university to efficiently begin remedial and replacement works.
