Sheltered Housing

Capital was asked to inspect and repair the fire doors at a sheltered housing development.

With vulnerable residents on site, the priority was to ensure every door offered reliable protection and met the relevant fire safety standards. We now provide regular inspections to maintain the system and support long-term compliance.

The challenge

The building’s fire doors had not been reviewed for some time, and the client needed an expert assessment to identify any issues and carry out repairs.

Given the nature of the setting, all works had to be handled sensitively, lessening the negative effects on residents or staff.

Our approach

We completed a full inspection of the fire doors throughout the scheme, assessing each one for damage, function and certification.

Repairs were made where necessary, using fully approved methods under the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme. Our engineers worked carefully around residents and coordinated closely with the building manager to keep the process smooth and unobtrusive.

After the initial work was completed, we agreed a regular maintenance plan with the client. This involves periodic visits to check all doors remain safe and compliant, with minor works carried out as needed to keep standards high.

The outcome

The sheltered housing scheme now benefits from a fully inspected and repaired fire door system.

The ongoing maintenance plan provides reassurance for the building owner and ensures residents are protected by properly functioning fire doors throughout the year. If you manage supported living or sheltered housing, we can help you stay compliant with expert fire door services tailored to your site.
