HM Prison

Capital was appointed to support the delivery of 150 high-security fire doorsets for a live prison block.

Working in close coordination with the Main Contractor, we helped develop detailed specifications for both FD30s and FD60s doors. All doorsets were manufactured to meet strict performance and security requirements, then supplied pre-hung for efficient on-site installation.

The challenge

Supplying fire doors for an active prison environment requires a precise and collaborative approach.

Each doorset had to meet not only UK fire safety standards but also the higher security demands of a custodial setting. The design and manufacturing process needed to be fully coordinated with the contractor to ensure the finished product was suitable for both fire resistance and operational security.

Our approach

We worked alongside the Main Contractor to develop a detailed specification for all 150 doorsets, covering fire ratings, security features, and installation requirements.

Once the specifications were finalised, we manufactured and supplied pre-hung FD30s and FD60s doorsets, ensuring each one met the agreed standards and was ready for straightforward installation on site.

Throughout the process, we provided technical support and clear documentation to assist the contractor in meeting the project’s timelines and compliance targets.

The outcome

The project was delivered with precision and care, providing the prison block with fully compliant fire doors that also met the necessary custodial security standards.

The use of prehung doorsets helped streamline installation and reduced time on site, an important factor in a live operational environment. If you're delivering fire safety solutions in high-security or sensitive sites, we offer the experience and support to get it right.
