St John’s Church

Capital was called in to carry out specialist repairs to several 200-year-old solid oak doors at St John’s Church in Bromley, following a break-in.

Given the age and significance of the building, our work was carried out with care and respect for its heritage. We now also provide regular fire door maintenance for the church’s adjoining community centre.

The challenge

The oak doors had been severely damaged during the burglary and needed expert attention to restore them without compromising their original features.

The church is a valued community landmark, and all work needed to preserve its character while enhancing security.

Our approach

Our team assessed the damage and carried out careful restorative work using appropriate materials and methods for heritage joinery.

The goal was to strengthen the doors while retaining their original appearance and structural integrity. In the community centre next door, we now provide scheduled fire door inspections and maintenance to support ongoing safety and compliance.

The outcome

The church’s historic doors have been repaired to a high standard, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern security.

Our continuing work at the community centre ensures all fire doors remain compliant and in good working order.
