Residential Care Home

Capital was engaged to carry out a full inspection of the fire doors at a privately owned care home.

The focus was to identify any issues affecting compliance and complete repairs where needed. We now provide ongoing maintenance to ensure the doors continue to meet safety standards.

The challenge

With residents on site who may need extra time and assistance in an emergency, it was essential that all fire doors were in good working condition.

The owner required a clear assessment of the existing doors and a practical approach to fixing any issues without disrupting daily care routines.

Our approach

Our team inspected each fire door in the building, checking for gaps, wear, faulty closers or damaged components.

Where repairs were needed, we carried them out using compliant methods under the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme. We kept the work low-impact, liaising closely with care staff to minimise interruptions.

Since completing the repairs, we’ve returned regularly to carry out scheduled checks. These visits help keep the building compliant and reduce the risk of minor issues developing into more costly problems later.

The outcome

The care home now has a well-maintained and compliant set of fire doors, giving residents and staff the protection they need in the event of a fire.

Regular maintenance keeps everything in check and helps the owner meet their legal responsibilities with confidence. If you’re responsible for fire door safety in a care setting, we can support you with inspections, repairs and ongoing maintenance.
